Leschi Community Speaks Out About Police Shooting Suspect

I just want to say to Lisa, Kayleigh & Quinn, that my heart simply aches for you.  As I sit here, safe in my home, sun about to rise, my own two children ages 11 and 9, still fast asleep of course, I understand that no words could truly help.

My children's father is a police officer, and even though we are no longer married, I still love and care for him very much.  This act of malice and cruelty that has happened to you Lisa, to Officer Brenton, your husband, a father, a son, a friend, a teacher, and also a role-model for us all; will not be forgotten and justice will be served.

In the days ahead I have a wish for you and your family, especially your children.  If nothing else, set aside 10 minutes every day to remember something funny, or perculiar, or weird, and then just laugh.  And, don't feel quilty about laughing.  Lisa, I don't know you at all, but I would be willing to guess that your husband would want you to laugh.  Or at least smile.  And, I am betting that this man, this father, would want you to take a breath; in and out; and then from what I have read, he's right here with you.  If you feel a slight breeze on your back, he's there to help you move forward.  If you hear your favorite song on the radio, he's listening too.

May you have the strenght, the courage and love to sustain you in the minutes, hours, days and weeks ahead.  Just know that you are all thought of - Lisa, Kayleigh and Quinn.  My heart goes out to you.
